2006 WISCONSIN MEMORIALHeld in remembrance of our lost chess playing friendsDecember 9-10, 2006ELIGIBILITY This event is open to all chessplayers. All entrants must be members of the US Chess Federation (USCF). USCF membership may be purchased at the site. Wisconsin Chess Association membership is included in the entry. PLAYING SITE The playing site is Union South at 227 N. Randall Ave. Madison, WI 53715. Union South is on the corner of Randall and Johnson St. on the UW campus. Union South has a limited number of hotel rooms available. Call (608) 263-2600 for reservations and rates. Parking is available in Lot #s 15 or 20 off of University Ave. REGISTRATION Players may register by mail using the form below. Registration will be accepted at the site from 9:00-9:30 A.M. on Saturday, December 9. Please bring your USCF ID card or be prepared to purchase or renew your membership during late registration. Please bring your chess clock. Phone inquiries may be directed to Guy Hoffmanl at (608)262-0308 11AM to 7PM. SCHEDULE The Wisconsin Memorial is a five-round Swiss-System event. Rounds are at 10:00 A.M., 2:30 P.M. and 7:30 P.M. on Saturday. Sunday’s rounds are at 10:00 A.M. and 3:30 P.M. The time control is 45 moves in 2 hours, followed by 25 moves in 1 hour, then Sudden Death in 1 hour. One ½-point bye is available for any round if requested in advance. ENTRY FEES If received by December 5, the entry fee is $20. Advance junior (under age 21) entries are $16. All entries paid later are $3 more. If you pre-register but then can not play, your entry will be refunded to you only if you notify the tournament director by 9:30 A.M. on December 9. Please make checks payable to the Wisconsin Chess Association. No credit cards please. PRIZES The following $605 prize fund is based on 50 players and four per class:
