Kosterman, Webster Elected to Board
Written by Administrator
Monday, 28 May 2007

The 2007 annual membership meeting was held during the state championship at the Howard Johnson's in Madison Wisconsin. The proposed bylaws changes were accepted by the members, though the voting age change was close, succeeding by only two votes.

There were the terms ending at this meeting, with an extra seat on the board up for election due to John Phythyon's resignation. Mike Nietman and Guy Hoffman were returned to their seats, with former board president Peter Webster elected to the seat held by David Granik. Dennis Kosterman was elected to fill the remaining year of John Phythyon's term.

Please welcome our new member (Dennis) and welcome back our new-old member (Peter). And and join the board in thanking both John Phythyon and David  Granik for their service to Wisconsin chess.

Proposed Bylaw Changes
Written by Administrator
Sunday, 04 March 2007

There are two bylaws changes being proposed for the upcoming membership meeting:

Change 6.4 to read:

The Board shall hold at least four regular meetings per year. In the interim between regular meetings, the Board may conduct business by mail, telephone, or electronic communication ( specifically including, but not limited to, Electronic Mail [E-Mail] ). The Board has the right to adopt additional methods for the conduct of business upon approval by a two-thirds vote. A special meeting of the Board may be called by the President or upon written request of three Board members. Five Board members present in person constitute a quorum. The Board may establish rules for recognition of proxies for absent Board members.

Change 6.3 to read:

Each member 16 years of age or older present in person shall have one vote at a membership meeting and may vote no more than one proxy from an absent member. Twenty members present in person constitute a quorum.
